We are planning to develop housing solutions in Jamaica. Grid power
is expensive with monthly household bill averaging US$100 - US$150).
Sunny days are not hard to come by here in Jamaica.
The land has already been acquired and we are in the budgeting/planning
phase. Our first development phase will consist of 500 housing units,
all of which we would like to equip with Solar Power Systems to
supplement grid power. This would be groundbreaking in Jamaica.
The initial cost burden of investing in a solar energy solution would be
included in the cost of each housing unit which would be financed by
a mortgage in most cases making it easier for the average prospective
home owner and attractive given the cost of grid power in Jamaica.
We anticipate good ROI for each home owner in an economy where
inflation is often double digit, making this an attractive offer.
Location: Jamaica

Grid Power: 110 V, 50 Hz

An independent company would be established in Jamaica to
offer sales servicing. We would then move on to other phases
(5000units: 10 phase?s x 500units) With the pilot phase completed
and the sales servicing expertise proven, the independent sales service
company would anticipate great demand for other real estate developers
as well.

Technical objectives

Grid cost savings and dependence on a renewable energy source
is the 1st objective.
We would like to be able to promote two system configurations
basic and deluxe consisting of.
Solar Panels
Regulators
Batteries
Inverters
Automatic / Manual AC Transfer Switch (to go to from battery
to grid power if necessary) - Grid Connected Inverters ? other
components as per your recommendation
With grid power down, the BASIC backup power should be
able to support:
A Refrigerator (est-700W).
5 x 20W Fluorescent bulbs at night (est-100W).
and Television (29" tube) for 3 hours/day (est-128W).
(your comments and/or recommendations re: these rough estimates
would be welcome) of course we would have a list of recommend
energy efficient brands and recommended usage times to optimize
household power consumption. We would appreciate that you consider
the volume and scope of our project when providing a quotation/proposal.
